Brief Profile:

His laboratory is involved in understanding the implications of the cell-cell cross talks in the development of obesity and associated complications like insulin resistance. It has been observed that in a diet induced obesity model of mouse the immune cells like macrophages and T cells infiltrate into the adipose tissue. His group is trying to understand the molecular mechanisms that recruit these cells into the adipose tissue as well as how these cells are activated and contribute in development of inflammation and consequently insulin resistance in the adipose tis-sue. His group is also studying how the metabolic stress is translated into inflamma-tion at the endoplasmic reticulum through ER stress. To understand these mecha-nisms we employ state of the art molecular biological techniques like realtime PCR, microarray, Flow cytometry and confocal microscopy etc.

Dr. Ghosh is a recipient of DBT postdoctoral Fellowship award and pursued his PDF at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, USA. He is also a recipient of DST Young Scien-tist award, BOYSCAST Fellowship award and co-applicant of two national patents. The research work in his lab is funded by DBT, DST and intramural grants from ICMR.
